This spring marks the 23rd annual Kolping Memorial Tournament. Through this event we honor and pay tribute to the athletes and members we have lost over the years. Our goal for the Kolping Memorial Tournament is to provide a fun and competitive environment for teams of all ages and levels. This year's event will be played over 3 days from March 28th - 30th, 2025 at our very own, Kolping Soccer Complex. Each participating team will play a minimum of (3) matches in a group stage format with the winners advancing to a final. We hope to provide a memorable experience, one that keeps you coming back each year.

Kolping SC Tournament Rules

1. Rules
a. Rules of the Kolping SC Tournaments shall be the 'Laws of the Game' as published by FIFA with those modifications as stated herein.
b. Goalkeeper may not be fairly charged in the goal box.
c. Substitutions may be made, with the consent of the referee.
i. Before a throw-in in your favor – opponent may substitute if throwing team does.
ii. Before a goal-kick
iii. After a score by either team.
iv. At half time.
v. After an injury, by either team, when the referee stops play.
vi. After a caution, one for one by both teams, if the cautioned player is substituted.
d. The game clock will not be stopped because of injury to any player, except if deemed necessary by the referee. Due to the time allowed for the completion of all games, the clock should run continuously.
2. Team and player requirements
a. Team rosters will be limited to (22) players for ages U-13 and above, (18) for U-11-U12 and (14) for U8-U10.
b. Dressed players allowed per match:
i. U8-U10 (7v7): 14
ii. U11-U12 (9v9): 16
iii. U13-U19 (11v11): 18
c. If a team utilizes guest players, the total roster may not exceed the allowed roster limit in 2a.
d. Five (5) guest players will be allowed for all teams. Addition of guest players may not exceed roster limits in 2a.
e. A player may only play for one team during the Tournament. No roster changes will be permitted after a team roster has been approved at tournament registration.
f. All teams should adhere to the USYSA birth year regulations.
g. All players and coaches must carry a valid USYSA pass or card or the approved pass/card of the team’s member organization. Passes will be checked prior to the start of each match.
h. The home team will wear their light color jersey, and the away team will wear their dark color jersey. The home team will be required to change to an alternate color uniform if necessary, and shall supply a suitable game ball (as determined by the Referee).
3. Duration of game
Preliminary / Championship games will consist of the following:
a. Age Format and Ball Size
i. U8-U10 (7v7) 50/50 minutes / size 4
ii. U11-U12 (9v9) 60/60 minutes / size 4
iii. U13-U20 (11v11) 70/70 minutes / size 5
b. The Director(s) reserves the right to adjust the game length for conditions beyond their control.
4. 7V7 Rules
a. U8-U10 will play with a 3-man referee crew.
b. There will be no head balls. An intentional head ball will result in an indirect kick.
c. All other Ohio Soccer rules apply.
5. Scoring
All scores will be posted on the Tournament website. Scores posted on the internet are official. At the end of the game, the Referees and each coach are to sign the official game card certifying final score and turn into Field Marshal. Bracket standings leading to championship play, will be determined on the following basis.
a. Points:
i. Win = 3 points
ii. Tie = 1 point
iii. Shutout = 1 point
iv. Goal = 1 point per goal (Maximum of 4 points per game)
v. Loss = 0 points
b. The score of a forfeited game shall be recorded as 4-0 in favor of the team not forfeiting, if;
i. The game has not commenced, or 2) the game has commenced, and the non-forfeiting team has less than a 4 goal lead at the time of cessation. If the non-forfeiting team has more than a 4-goal lead at the time of cessation, the score shall stand. Forfeiture will be declared for a failure to begin play within ten (10) minutes of game time. Failure to complete a match or a team leaving the field during play may result in forfeiture. In no case will a team which has forfeited a game be declared a group winner or wild card.
c. In the event of ties in point standings, the following sequence will be used:
i. Result of head-to-head game (2 teams only)
ii. Highest total net score for tournament games. Net score = goals scored less goals scored against. A maximum differential of 4 goals per game will account for this purpose.
iii. Fewest goals allowed.
iv. Most goals scored.
v. Penalty kick elimination: FIFA rules.
d. In the event of ties at the end of championship round games, winner will be determined as follows:
i. Two ten-minute overtime periods (five-minute for U8-U12) will be played, both mandatory.
ii. Penalty kick elimination as above. Only players on the field at the end of the second overtime are eligible for penalty kicks.
6. Forfeits:
a. Failure to complete a match, failure to begin play within 10 minutes of game time, or a team leaving the field during play will result in forfeiture.
i. No team that has forfeited a game will be declared a wild card or group winner. The team winning by forfeit will be awarded one goal, or remaining team will have the score recorded at the time of walk off (whichever is higher). The opponent’s score will be zero. This score will be the official score in case goal differential is necessary. The Tournament Officials reserve the right to decide all matters concerning a forfeit.
ii. A team must have 7 eligible players to start a game for 11 v 11, 6 for 9 v 9, and 4 for 7 v 7. A team will be required to forfeit if they do not have the minimum number of players 10 minutes after the scheduled start time of the match.
7. Standards of conduct
a. All participants will be expected to maintain high standards of conduct during the tournament. These standards are expected of players, referees, and spectators.
b. There shall be no dissent between players and/or coaches and the referee. Questioning a referee is considered dissent. All coaches are responsible for the actions of his or her spectators, specifically verbal abuse of referees. Such abuse will not be tolerated! Violation may result in forfeiture of the game and/or expulsion from further play.
c. Any player or coach ejected from a game will be ineligible to participate in the next scheduled game. The player/coach pass is to be turned in to the tournament headquarters immediately following the initial suspension game. Any serious or violent infraction may result in more than a one game suspension (to be determined by the tournament director(s) and referee committee).
i. No substitution will be permitted for an ejected player.
ii. In the event a coach has been ejected and the game cannot be completed, the score will be recorded as a 4-0 forfeit.
d. Any player or coach who receives an accumulation of two (2) yellow cards or a red card in a game must sit out the next game. The player card must be turned into tournament headquarters immediately following the suspension game.
e. Spectators may be ejected from the park for improper conduct, at the discretion of the tournament officials.
f. Protests are not allowed.
8. Awards
a. First and second place awards will be awarded after the final game for the age group. Only team members, registered guest players and coaches will receive an award. (5 team brackets 1st place and 2nd place points will get award).
9. Inclement Weather/Cancellations/Reschedules:
a. The tournament committee has the right to shorten and/or cancel matches due to climatic conditions or others acts of nature, which are beyond our control.
i. In the event that severe weather delays the tournament, all games which are at least at halftime will be considered a complete match. The score at the stoppage of the play will be the final game score.
ii. If the first half has not been completed and the game is stopped, every effort will be made to complete the game or play to complete at least the first half and record the score as final.
iii. In the event the current half cannot be completed, the game will be considered a 0-0 tie.
b. If necessary, game lengths may be shortened to accommodate scheduling requirements. It is the responsibility of each coach to check the Tournament website for reschedule information. However, in the event that rescheduling is not possible, and game cancellation creates a situation where teams within the division are unable to play an equal number of qualifying games, the group winner will be determined on the basis of average tournament points for games played (including the tie breaking procedure). The team with the highest average points will be declared the winner of the group. In the event there is a tie which cannot be resolved by point averaging, the advancing team will be determined by penalty kicks, per FIFA as directed by the Tournament Director(s).
c. Kolping shall not be responsible for any team’s expenses due to weather-related cancellation of games.
10. Cancellations
a. All sales are final once a team is accepted.
b. If the Tournament is canceled due to events beyond the control of the Tournament Committee, the Tournament will issue refunds in the following manner.
a. If NO game/s have been played:
i. Credit applied to our Fall Event or
ii. A refund minus any processing and administrative fees will be issued
b. If 1 game has been played, NO refunds will be issued.
11. Final Rulings
The final interpreter of the foregoing rules and regulations, and also any matters not provided for in these rules, will be the Tournament Director(s), whose decisions shall be final.
